Summary: Jack and Daniel plan a quiet evening in. Shame some other people have different ideas

Daniel pulled into the driveway and saw Jack's truck was already parked up. Even though he hadn't finished going through his in-tray or reading all his emails, he had shut off the computer and left his office at 5pm. He was running late after being caught by a member of staff as he tried to leave the SGC, but decided 45 minutes overdue wasn't bad considering.

Reaching the front door he found it slightly ajar and knowing Jack didn't leave it unlocked let alone open, he gently pushed it and stepped inside. Feeling a soft breathe on his neck, Daniel spun round just as a low husky voice whispered in his ear "Hi love."

Seeing Jack standing behind the door, Daniel let his arms drop to his side and exclaimed, "Jack!"

"Nice reflexes," Jack replied, grinning as he closed that door.

"Thanks," Daniel said sarcastically as he pulled Jack close and kissed him. Wrapping his arms round Daniel's waist, Jack moaned as he felt Daniel's tongue slide into his mouth and hands slip in the front of his sweat pants.

Suddenly, the doorbell startled both men and they broke apart.

"What the?" Jack muttered under his breath.

Neither moved, hoping that the person on the other side of the door would go away, but the bell rang again.

"You best get it babe, whoever it is can see the cars in the drive so they won't probably won't leave."

"I'll get rid of them," Jack replied and watched as Daniel headed into the living room. Swallowing down a groan, he opened the door just as the person on the other side decided to start kicking it.

"WHAT? Carter!"

"Sir," Sam said as she juggled the bags in her arms. Seeing that she was about to drop at least one of them, Jack stepped forward and grabbed two.

"Thanks Sir. Didn't think you'd heard the bell. Sorry I'm late, I know Janet will be bringing Teal'c over soon."

Hearing Sam's voice, Daniel walked back to the front door and said, "Sam? Teal'c and Janet are coming over?"

"Of course they are, hardly a party without them is it?" she replied. Turning to Jack, Sam continued, "Where do you want this set up?"

"Get what set up? Carter, what's going on?" Jack asked slightly perplexed as both he and Daniel followed his 2IC into the kitchen.

"I explained it all in the email."

Just then the doorbell rang again. Jack and Daniel looked at each other then Daniel went to open the door as Sam said, "That must be the others, I told them 18:45 so they'll be here when Janet and Teal'c arrive at 19:00."

Hearing voices, Jack turned to see General Hammond, Sergeant Siler, Cassie, Ferreti and others coming in carrying brightly wrapped presents and bottles of drink. Daniel took their coats, George stopping long enough to speak quietly to the young man. As he watched them talk and glance in his direction, Jack could hear Sam still talking.

"...and I knew the two of you wouldn't have time to get presents so I used the ones we planned to use at Christmas. I also got an extra one from the three of us. There, what do you think?"

Jack tore his attention back to where Sam was standing to see she had put out various plates of food.

"Umm, very nice Carter. I was..."

"Oh! The drinks. I've got some cases of beer in the car if you could help me carry them in, then I think we're just about ready," Sam interrupted as if Jack hadn't said anything.

Jack followed Sam outside slightly bemused at the way his plans for the evening had changed so quickly, instead of ravishing Daniel it now looked like he was hosting a party. Reaching Sam's car, he asked again, "What's going on Carter?"

Sam saw the expression on Jack's face, the one that said 'Tell me everything you know and tell me now', so queried, "You did read the email I sent you, didn't you? The one I said I needed you to read today. This morning when we left the commissary."

"Uh. No. Didn't get time. Wanna tell me about it now?"

"When Janet and I were speaking to Loran, he mentioned he'd been talking to Teal'c and had shown him a toy gun his parents had given him for his birthday one year..."

"The one Teal'c played with whenever he visited us in that opium den of pleasure?" Jack interrupted.

Sam smiled and continued, "Yeah, that one. Apparently Loran gave it to him as a birthday present after Teal'c said they don't celebrate birthdays on Chulak, but he'd be turning 102 in 42 days."

Doing some quick mental math, Jack said, "Which would work out about today."

"Exactly today. I'm sorry Sir; I was going to speak to you at the commissary but Teal'c turned up. When Janet hadn't heard from you by 15:00, she assumed you were OK with the plans and sent mails out to everyone telling them it was here."

"It's OK Carter, it'll teach me to read my mails."

"I'm surprised Daniel didn't mention it when he arrived."

"He'd only just walked through the door, hadn't had much time to say anything."

Jack helped Sam carry a couple of cases of beer into his home, and as soon as they were in the kitchen he went looking for Daniel. He found him talking to Cassie and George.

"Good of you to host this Jack."

"My pleasure Sir," and turning to Cassie, he gave the young woman a hug and said, "Hi Cass, mind if I borrow Daniel?"

"As long as you both come back later I don't," she replied.

"We will sweetie," Daniel answered as he turned to follow Jack outside.

Once they were alone, Daniel said, "So much for the hockey."

"I know love but Teal'c only turns 102 once in his life. They can't stay all night. Can they?" Hearing the doorbell ring again, Jack continued, "That must be the birthday boy."

Suddenly Daniel realised something and said, "We didn't get him anything."

"Don't worry about it, Carter dealt with it. I think she said she used the ones we got him for Christmas or something," Jack replied as they made their way inside.

Going to the front door, Jack opened it saw his favourite alien standing behind his favourite Napoleonic doctor.

"Janet. Teal'c. Come on in, the others are here."

"Thanks Jack."

"O'Neill," Teal'c said as he followed Janet into the house and a chorus of 'Happy Birthday' rang out as the three of them walked into the living room.

Teal'c sat in bemusement as he found himself opening presents, touched that the Tau'ri of the SGC thought so much of him. He had been to birthday parties held for others since his move to Earth, but this was the first time he found himself the centre of attention. He was soon the owner of a wide range of items that included a Stetson and Cowboy shirt from General Hammond, a painting Cassie had done along with some candles, the collector's edition DVD of Battlestar Galactica from Sgt. Siler and a book of 1001 Practical Jokes from Feretti.

"Thank you for your kind gifts," he said to everyone as Sam stepped forward with the final four packages.

"These are from the Colonel, Daniel and I."

The first box contained a rubber snake with 'Junior' written on it, tickets for the next season of ice hockey and a book called 'The History And Rules Of Ice Hockey'. Teal'c thanked Jack for his gifts then opened the box from Sam. It held tickets to a monster truck racing show, DVDs and a limited edition film cell from the Star Wars movie. Thanking Sam, Teal'c opened the box from Daniel. Inside was a game Teal'c had learnt to play after coming to Earth.

"I thought you'd like to play sometimes when we're on base, instead of just at my place," Daniel explained. He had managed to track down an authentic Egyptian copy of the 'Jackal and Hound' game that Teal'c liked.

"I would be honoured to play with you whilst on base DanielJackson. This is a most beautiful set."

Opening the final box, Teal'c saw inside a picture of the team taken on one of their rare trips away from the SGC and Colorado Springs. It was one where everyone, including himself, was smiling and it sat in a silver frame that had 'With love and respect, SG1' engraved on it.

"Thank you, I am honoured by these gifts."

Later in the evening, Daniel was glad that the surprise party for Teal'c was a success but found himself getting more and more frustrated the longer it went on. Jack kept 'accidentally' brushing against him when he walked past, kept slowly sliding the beer bottle in and out of his mouth and had, at one point, told everyone about the rare catch he had made whilst away. To Daniel it felt like the heat was slowly being cranked up, and he felt like he was going to boil over any minute.

Soon people started to leave, and not a moment too soon as far as Daniel was concerned, as the party wound down. Teal'c turned to his teammates and said, "Thank you for a most pleasant evening."

"Sam and Janet were the ones who arranged all this but I'm glad you had a good evening," Jack replied as Daniel moved to stand by his side.

"Well, I think its time I got this young lady home and in bed," Janet said as she and Cassie walked up to the group, "Teal'c, are you wanting a lift back to base?"

"Thank you Dr Frasier but General Hammond is returning and said he will provide me with transport."

"In that case, I'll see you all tomorrow. Night."

"Night," Cassie added as she followed Janet out of the house.

Sam had been the last to go, grinning as she said, "I'll leave the two of you alone to clear up and do the housework."

When he turned from closing the door, Daniel saw Jack just a step behind him.

"So, where do you want to start?"

"In the bedroom," Daniel growled as he pulled the very willing Colonel upstairs.
