Summary: Jack and Daniel are in bed. No, there's no action - well maybe a hint of what is to come but you can make that up yourself cause this series is now finished.
Lying on his back in bed, Jack felt totally relaxed as Daniel snuggled into his side. After a few minutes of just listening to the music playing softly in the background Jack asked, "So what did George want earlier?"
"To make sure things are OK between us. I had to stop from myself from laughing when he asked if things had improved."
"Why? What's so funny about that?"
"Because, at the time, I had a vision of when we were by the lake and what happened after we talked about improving our 'technique'."
Jack remembered what his lover was talking about and laughed, the movement of his body started the younger man laughing as well.
"It's funny really," Daniel said once they had stopped, "I say things are fine and the first assignment he gives me takes me off world with SG11."
"Yeah, real funny. Just when I feel the team is back on a stable footing you get sent off without us," Jack groused.
"It's only for a week babe, and I'm sure there'll be something for you to do whilst I'm away," Daniel replied softly.
As they lay enjoying the peace, a new song started to play in the background.
And I never really sleep anymore
And I always get those dangerous dreams
And I never get a minute of peace
Jack groaned as he recognised the lyrics.
"What?"
"This song."
"What's wrong with it?"
"It's the one I was listening to in the bar. The one that got me thinking about what was wrong with us."
"So? What's the problem if it got us together? Wait a minute, you were listening to Meatloaf in a bar and thinking about me?"
"The problem is that someone really liked it. And when I say 'really liked it', I mean they really liked it. It played 5 or 6 times in the hour I was there and a lot of people were getting fed up of hearing it. In fact someone threatened to turn the jukebox off permanently if it was played again."
Daniel sniggered and asked, "So did they stop playing it after you threatened the music?"
"Hey it wasn't me. I was quietly sitting alone with my beer and thinking things through. Besides, I left before it could play again," Jack protested.
"Whatever you say Jack. Whatever you say."
Maybe I'm desperate and I've got no defences
Daniel knew he had been desperate for a while. He had to be desperate to even think of leaving his family of SG1 behind. And Jack was the only defence he would ever need.
Can you get me a prescription for that one perfect touch?
When he was with Jack every touch was perfect for Daniel.
"And I wasn't just thinking of you," Jack said, "I was thinking about Charlie and Sara as well. OK, I was mostly thinking about you but they were in there too."
"And what were you thinking?" Daniel asked pulling himself back into the conversation.
"That I didn't like the way things were heading between us. That if it hadn't been for you I would've found a way to kill myself after Charlie died," Jack quietly said. Then turning so he could look at Daniel, Jack continued, "That you and Charlie are the only ones who managed to get so far into my heart I'm not sure there's anything of me left."
Daniel resisted the urge to roll his eyes, instead he said, "You would have found your way through the hurt, even if I hadn't shown up. You..."
"No I wouldn't Daniel," Jack interrupted, "I would have found a way to kill myself."
Looking into Jack's eyes, Daniel repeated, "You would have found your way through Jack. I mean, how long was it between Charlie dying and you getting recalled?"
"Four months give or take a week."
"And how long had you been sitting on his bed with your gun?"
"Four months give or take a week."
"That's my point. If you were going to kill yourself you wouldn't have been sitting on Charlie's bed, you would have done it. Jack you're a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for, and if you carry on like this I'll have to set Janet on you," Daniel threatened with a grin on his face.
Jack did roll his eyes at the thought. "How about we forget about Napoleon and concentrate on the here and now?"
"Good idea, I'd hate it if I had to throw you through the wormhole without a GDO."
"You and who's army Danny boy?"
"Oh I think I could cope quite well on my own," Daniel replied as he rolled both of them over.
There was a time and the time was so long ago
And I never really sleep anymore.
Daniel listened to the music fade, glad that both he and Jack could sleep now. When they wanted to of course, there were far better ways to spend their time in bed he decided as he made his way down Jack's body.
