Summary: Daniel, as always, gets into a snake's face

Daniel put his hands on his hips and glared at the newest goa'uld he and Jack had been caught by. "You've ~got~ to be kidding me!" he shouted.

Caught painfully by the arms by two very strong Jaffa, Jack could only roll his eyes. Thanks goodness Carter and Teal'c were still out there and didn't have to witness Daniel in snake baiting mode. Again. "Uh, Daniel?"

The female goa'uld was a taken aback at the lack of respect and fear that she expected. "Bow down before me," she ordered again.

"What did you say your name was?" Daniel inquired sarcastically.

One of her Jaffa made to zat him but she shook her carefully coiffed blonde head. "No, let him know who is going to be his Queen," she said grandly. "I am Athena."

"Geez, your mother must have been hard up for names. What do they do, use a book called, 'What to Name your Evil Baby Snake for Dummies'?" Daniel asked snidely then snapped his fingers as if an idea came to him. "Wait, I know! 'Baby Names for Evil Symbiotes!'"

Jack snorted and tensed for the expected painstick when suddenly the sound of a staff weapon and automatic weapons fire started and the roomful of Jaffa and goa'uld were dead.

"Hey, about time!" he complained to his team mates as he rolled his shoulders to work out the kinks.

Sam shrugged. "Daniel saw us, he was buying time for us to get into position."

Jack gaped at her, then at a smug Daniel before looking at Teal'c, whose eyes were traitorously twinkling.

"I enjoyed the titles for the books that you mentioned, DanielJackson," Teal'c said with a bow.

Daniel grinned, moving up to absently rub Jack's shoulders. "I made 'em up," he said.

"You did good, Daniel," Sam said with a smile.

"And I'll never hear the end of it,' Jack groaned, but accepted Daniel's arm around his waist for support since he'd twisted the fuck out of his knee again.

"Bite me," Daniel replied cheerfully.

"Don't worry," Jack said darkly, enjoying the flush on Daniel's cheeks. "I will," he murmured into the nearest ear.

Daniel cleared his throat and immediately launched into the history of the names for Greek gods and goddesses, making his team exchange commiserating eyerolls as they headed for the gate.
