Summary: Shifu has descended and now has to face the most basic of questions-how short do I cut my hair?

This is Shifu, if he'd smile...

Shifu eyed his shoulder length hair doubtfully. "I do not know," he told the hairdresser. He craned his neck to look at Daniel. "Should I have my hair cut short?"

"Shorter, probably," Daniel said after a moment. "How about chin length?"

Relieved, Shifu nodded at the man behind him. "I don't want to look like a girl."

"Not a problem, honey," the male hairdresser said with a flirty smile that went right over Shifu's head.

Jack snorted as he flipped though the Teen Beat magazine that he'd snitched from the haphazard pile. He'd already been as patient as a saint through clothes shopping, shoes shopping (watching Daniel having to explain to a former glowy person that shoes were required had been hilarious to watch). Now he was starved.

"Jack, what do you think?"

He looked up to see the kid was finished and ~huh~. He should've expected a child of Shar'e's would be good looking. The blatantly gay hairdresser had cut Shifu's hair just slightly longer than chin length which now showed some curl and gave the kid a modern teenaged look. "Wow, I can really see your mother," he said sincerely.

Daniel's smile turned slightly sad but he nodded. "That's what I thought," he agreed.

"I like it," Shifu said with a pleased smile.

Jack paid the hairdresser and had a cheerful argument with Daniel about where to go for lunch. It was actually kind of fun to introduce someone to all that Earth had to offer. The last time...he shook his head. He didn't want to think about Daniel dying and Jonas taking his place.

"Jack?" Daniel was looking at him with concern.

"Starving," Jack said abruptly. "I'm beginning to feel like McKay."

"God forbid," Daniel said with an eyeroll.

Shifu watched the exchange with a smile. He'd always enjoyed watching Daniel and Jack, seeing how much they loved each other, how they would do anything for each other, which in Daniel's case had meant de-ascending to be with Jack. He hadn't understood at first, but Oma had told him to observe and he had.

"Can we eat a Chinese?" he asked, then wondered why both Jack and Daniel collapsed into laughter.

They'd eaten Chinese at their favorite restaurant, where Shifu had surprised them by speaking flawless Cantonese, then had gone home. Now they were sitting in the living room, Daniel with his book, watching as Jack indoctrinated (i.e. brainwashed) the younger man into the joys of the Simpson's. He couldn't concentrate though. There was still a lot to do. They had to get paperwork done, get him into a school, heck, he was surprised that they hadn't been ordered to take him to the mountain. Daniel blinked...

"Ja-ack?"

"Mm?" Jack replied, most of his attention on the TV.

"Have you notified the SGC?"

"It's not my job. I'm retired, remember?" Jack said with a little smile.

"Ohforcryingoutloud!" Daniel said with exasperation. Jack was right, he'd retired to be with Daniel after the Ori wars. It had been a shock to Sam, Teal'c hadn't been surprised in the slightest, Cameron still hadn't stopped staring at Daniel, Vala had pouted and General Landry had only smiled.

"You are not in trouble?" Shifu asked with concern.

"Nah," Jack assured him. "One day isn't going to make a difference. Hell, no one will even know. I'll call Hank in the morning, okay?" he asked Daniel.

That was so sweet. And so Jack. "Okay," he agreed and relaxed again with his book. Jack was right, it wouldn't hurt to wait a day.
