Summary: Tony DiNozzo re-enters the Stargate Program & gets sent to Atlantis, on Lorne's team
"Fuck, Lorne!" Tony DiNozzo shouted, across the field.
He ran to his Leader, almost. He stopped just short of it, as a huge Wraith was in the way. Tony let all of the bullets fly from his gun, and thanked God for the chance to reload when one of his colleagues saw what was happening, amidst the crap, and took over shooting the vampire beast. When the wraith was sufficiently dead, he went over to Lorne, who was sitting at the foot of a tree, having been unceremoniously knocked down in battle.
Tony offered Evan Lorne a hand, and pulled him up.
"You glad to be back in the thick of it?!" Lorne asked Tony.
"Damn delighted!" Tony said. He wasn't sure he was speaking the truth, but Jack O'Neill had let him back into the program, when his NCIS team got split up. Tony DiNozzo was back with the Stargate in his life... Actually, this time, he was in the Pegasus Galaxy, for the first time... A place about which he hadn't even known the existence of, until very recently. The first time Tony had left the Stargate behind him, he'd done so because, he was ashamed to say, he hadn't been sure he could brave it out much longer. He left, and did a left turn, going into the Police Force eventually, pounding the beat in Baltimore. Now wasn't the time, he had to keep his wits about him, to keep hold of his life, but as Tony crawled through the war ground, heading back to the Stargate, and, hopefully, to Atlantis, he wanted to laugh. He'd gone Military to begin with because his father disowned him, for many reasons... For his lack of know-how with money, the family fortune, and for being gay... Tony knew he was a cliché. Such a cliché! He went into the Military to find his manhood... He even had a dozen women to call up any hour of the day, whenever he wasn't a Galaxy away... And he could do the whole thing again, here, making his way through all those lovely female scientists! But he couldn't get away from what he was, one of those things being gay, and another, being someone who wasn't comfortable in his own skin, and who always wanted to impress people! The smart shirts, the expensive shoes, all belonging to his life in NCIS, all of it, was to impress..! God... How had he passed the Psych Evaluation when re-entering the Stargate Program! Of course, how he and the Boss, how his NCIS team, had dealt with that case of the boy with the bomb strapped to him, entering his school, had helped bring Tony back to the attention of the SGC... The boy had been a young and cloned Jack O'Neill! God, Tony wanted to laugh again... It was all so ludicrous but true, and so tragic! Young Jack's memory had been altered after a near breakdown when he tried to make it alone, as an emancipated 'minor' with memories of a life, and its pain, that he'd never really experienced! He'd been placed with adoptive parents to help him; a mother and father to replace the ones who'd never actually conceived him... But then, his new mother had been caught up in a case that came back to haunt her, while the memories that young Jack did have, began to haunt him – And voila! He was trapped by those that wanted him to detonate that bomb... Tony had had all of that explained to him when he re-joined the program, but he'd known something was going on, when Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson had turned up after the case had been 'solved', and he had overheard young Jack saying; 'It nearly happened again! I was willing to let kids die!!'...

Tony had made it back to Atlantis... He looked around him as he sat in the Infirmary, watching Doctors Beckett and Keller lead the effort to heal everyone...
Tony had survived with just a scratch to his shoulder, and several bruises that he could feel deep in his body... He gently hopped off the Infirmary bed, thinking that he should let a team member who actually needed it, use it instead... There were tired, barely walking wounded. He nodded to each of them as he left. He seemed to remember Beckett saying he could...
"Well done out there today!" John Sheppard said, as Tony walked down the corridor...
DiNozzo made it to his quarters and to the shower soon after...

"Tony, I don't know where you are in the world, but I've been told that the only way I can talk to you is to send you this video-disc..." Tim began, as he sat on his sofa, Jethro the dog next to him... "We miss you, Tony. Me, Abby, Ziva, Ducky, and both the Jethros'... This one..." He patted his dog. "And the Boss!" He paused. "We'd like to have you back, Tony. I knew I'd miss you, Tony, and I am, like you wouldn't believe... Abby goes on about you constantly. The team is back up and running now, but it's not the same without you, Tony... I miss having you to bicker with, believe it or not! We've all tried to talk to you, but we keep hitting brick walls, so Lord knows where you are, or what you're doing... I guess Gibbs isn't the only one who knows Military Manoeuvres!"

"Yes, but I'm not as good as he is..!" Tony said to the screen, to his lover... The one that things never really went far with, because it couldn't; they danced around it, like Tony was sure Jack and Daniel also did... And he had his own thoughts about just who might be a couple, here, in this 'Atlantic' City; never mind his idea of how the Boss really felt about Dr Mallard! It was typical! Tony had finally found the one he did want to progress with, and they couldn't. Rules! Damn Rules! And they were literally a world, worlds, apart... He couldn't leave the Pegasus Galaxy now. He couldn't give up again – But question was, what was he giving up on? Himself? Tim? Their relationship?? His integrity... His duty? Who was that to anyway?? "Probie..." He said, getting up, aching still from the big mission, and another tough day out there... He went and touched the screen, McGee's face, Tim's face, in the privacy of his quarters... "I love you..." He mouthed the words, though they had no volume, because the tears that constricted his throat, the need to cry, made that impossible!
The End
