It was 6am. 0600 hours. Too damn early, and Daniel groaned indignantly at being woke up at the ungodly hour.

"Aw, c'mon, Danny," Jack cooed. Daniel snorted and rolled over pulling the covers back over his head.

"G'way...mmmhngoddamnearlysleep," the tired man mumbled into his pillow.

"But I have coffee," Jack coaxed in an annoying singing voice as he wafted the aroma towards his lover. Daniel's head peeped from beneath his cocoon and he scowled at Jack.

"That's dirty pool and you know it, Jack," he muttered but took the cup anyway. Coffee... he could never resist the delicious amber-nectar that was coffee.

Jack grinned and scooted up the bed. "So, Birthday-Boy, what do ya want for breakfast?"

Blinking, Daniel looked at Jack and then smiled. It was his birthday! "Um, blueberry pancakes," he said. "And you."

"Your wish is my command," Jack bowed. He leaned in for a coffee flavoured kiss. "Mmmm You drink your coffee, be back in a bit." And he bounded off the bed and went to make his lover a stack of blueberry pancakes.

Daniel settled back with his mug and savoured the drink. He could hear Jack in the kitchen and smiled.

A good 10 minutes later, Jack waltzed back into the bedroom with a tray that had a plate of pancakes - heavily doctored with blueberries, a glass of orange juice, more coffee and a tall slim vase with a single red rose.

"You trying to seduce me, Jack?" Daniel laughed when he spied the flower. Jack snorted.

"Hardly, my darling Danny... I'd say you were seduced and then some after what we did last night," winked Jack.

"You've got a point there," chuckled the young man as he remembered the way Jack loved him the night before... starting with a thorough massage - with his tongue, and ending with Jack inside him so deep Daniel swore he reached nirvana!

"Anyway, eat up, we gotta busy day!" Jack said and placed the tray on Daniel's knee. He disappeared and came back with his own tray a moment later and joined his lover in breakfast.

Daniel's shower turned out to be the start of the day's fun when Jack shed his clothes and stepped into the hot spray with him. After bathing his lover, Jack turned him and then loved him too, pushing inside Daniel so slowly, the young man was shaking with need by the time his orgasm hit.

It was after nine when the men finally left the house. Daniel didn't know where they were going, but he was excited and looking forward to whatever Jack had planned for them.

First stop was a morning stroll through the park. It was a beautiful day and Daniel smiled at the romance of the idea. He walked along next to his lover, the occasional touches and the way Jack let his hand brush against Daniel's warmed his heart. They talked of nonsensical stuff, and just enjoyed the time together.

Next stop was a small diner just outside town where they ordered a light lunch.

"Where to next?" Daniel asked over his coffee. Jack looked at him and waggled his brows.

"It's a surprise," he said and paid the bill. "Come on, Danny, oh, and if you need to, um, go... then do so 'cause we're on the road for a couple of hours now."

Daniel nodded and disappeared into the washroom. Within a few minutes they were on their way again.

"So, Jack, you gonna give me a clue as to where we're going?" Daniel asked hopefully.

"Nope," Jack simply said. "It's a surprise!"

Chuckling, Daniel leaned back in his seat. He loved surprises.

The big white and navy sign to the airfield came closer until Daniel could read it. "Um, an airfield?" he said confused. Jack knew he didn't like to fly.

"Yep," Jack smiled.

"But-"

"Trust me, Danny," Jack just said and Daniel nodded. He could do that.

Their 'plane sat waiting on the tarmac and after signing some paperwork, Jack grabbed a bag from the truck and turned to his lover.

"I want to take you somewhere, Danny, somewhere special," Jack said. Daniel eyed the small Cessna and chewed his lip. He smiled.

"Okay," Daniel whispered and leaned forward for a kiss. Jack grinned and returned the kiss.

Despite being afraid of heights and terrified of flying, Daniel actually enjoyed their flight in the small Cessna. Jack even let the other man take over the controls in the air for a while and Daniel liked flying the small aircraft. The flight was only 40 minutes and soon Jack smoothly landed the 'plane.

Their hired vehicle, an old jeep, took them to a cabin high up in the mountains where Jack had secured the place for the night. It was a small place, with a living area, kitchen, and a bathroom. The bed was a pull out sofa in the main room. But what was special about this place was the view. It was spectacular.

Daniel stood on the porch on the cabin and looked in awe at the site. It was early evening and the sun cast a golden hue over the valley and distant snow capped mountains.

Jack came up behind his lover and wrapped his arms around his waist. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

"God, Jack, it's amazing," Daniel breathed. He held onto Jack's arms around him.

"My Grandfather used to bring me up here," Jack confided. He never told anyone before. "He said it was our secret place, and I wanted to share that with you."

Daniel smiled and nodded.

"He would bring me up here in the summer and we'd fish and just chill out, you know?" Jack said. "He was a great man."

"Thank you, Jack," Daniel said and squeezed his lover's arms. "Thank you for bringing me here."

"Well, I wanted to do something special for your birthday, and..." He pulled a small wrapped gift from his pocket. "Here. Happy birthday, Danny."

Daniel looked at the gift and took it with a huge smile. He carefully opened in to reveal a ring - a gold wedding band. Daniel looked up at Jack.

"Um, I know we can't - not officially, but would you marry me, if you could?" Jack said shyly. He lowered his eyes to the ring and waited for an answer.

Daniel's breath caught in his throat and he swallowed hard. Jack wanted to marry him? "Yes."

Jack's head snapped up. "Yes?"

"Yes! Of course, yes," Daniel laughed, tears of joy in his eyes. "If I could, I would marry you in a heartbeat, Jack. I love you."

Jack's face lit up and he took the ring and placed it on Daniel's finger. "With this ring, I thee wed," he murmured, declaring his vows to the universe. "I love you with all that I am, Daniel Jackson, and will always love you."

Daniel took Jack's hand and looked into his eyes. "I love you, Jack, with all that I am, and will always love you, too."

"So, in the sight of God and the universe at our feet, can I declare us wed?" Jack grinned.

"Damn right," Daniel agreed.

"Sweet!" Jack then kissed his lover deeply, sealing their vows.

What started on the porch ended up with the two men naked on the sofa. And as Daniel pushed into his lover, his gold ring shining in the evening light, he knew this birthday was the best he'd ever had, and Daniel loved Jack until they passed out exhausted and utterly sated with the gentle mountain breeze cooling them.
