Summary: Tony and Daniel both have a bad romantic experience can they mend and find love again in each others arms

"Abby, I don't care who you want me to meet I'm not in the mood," Tony yelled over the pounding of some heavy metal music. The club was in some dark basement near the Capitol.

He couldn't believe he had let her drag him off to meet some geek friend of McGee's from college or was it prep school.

"Come on, Tony, you owe me and McGee."

Tony tried to slip away but Abby had a strong grip.

"Abby, I just want to go home and have a couple of drinks." It had been an incredibly crappy, crappy day.

"Yes, but when you get knocked off the horse, you need to get back on and ride again."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"Gibbs dumped you, so, go find yourself another to take his place."

"It's not that easy, Abby, you've of all people should know that."

He and Gibbs had been sharing a bed for almost a year and while no words of undying devotion had been spoken, the truth was he had been in love, or as in love as he allowed himself to fall.

Abby turned him around so they could look into each other's eyes; she took his face into her hands. "Tony, I know you're hurting. Believe me, I'm damn pissed off and Gibbs is going to hear about it but getting drunk alone isn't a good choice. Now, Tim is waiting for us with an old friend of his. Apparently he got dumped too, now let's go. You know what they say, misery loves company."

Tony let a big sigh go but it was lost in the noise and Abby's indifference to him. "I'll come along but I won't have fun." They weaved their way through the bodies that were littering the dance floor.

"That's fine. You just have to charm the guy so I can get McGee out on the dance floor. I want to see if he can shake that booty of his."

"How can anyone dance to this?"

Abby smiled. "Very close. Oh, there they are. Oh, Tony, he's a cutie."

Tony looked at where Abby was pointing. There was McGee tucked away at a table as far as he could get from the speakers. Abby was right, the guy that was with McGee did have a few attributes; he had dark hair with a slight wave, the grey shirt he was wearing did show off a well-defined body.

"Okay, he's cute, but I'm still not liking this."

Abby slapped him lightly on the arm and ran over to McGee. He had no choice but to follow his friend.

"Timmy," Abby said hugging the special agent.

"Abby Scuito, I want to introduce you to my old friend Doctor Daniel Jackson." Tim pointed to Abby and then to Tony. "Danny, this is Anthony DiNozzo."

"Daniel," Jackson said shaking Tony's hand.

"Tony." Jackson had a firm grip and a couple of calluses on his trigger finger.

"I ordered drinks," Tim said. "I hope that was okay. I got you a beer, Tony."

"Canadian?"

"Of course."

"Great." Tony turned his attention to McGee's friend. "So, Doc, you want to take my temperature?"

"I'm not that kind of doctor, and does that stupid line ever work?"

"What kind of doctor are you? And yeah, sometimes, if the person's had enough to drink."

"Archaeology. I work for the Air Force and that's about all I can tell you. Oh, by the way, this is my first drink."

Tony looked into Jackson's eyes; he could get lost in their blue depths. They were completely different from Gibbs' ice blue one. Daniel's wanted to welcome you and Gibbs' wanted to freeze you out.

Tony looked at Abby who was dragging Tim out onto the dance floor. The music was giving him a headache. He saw the way Jackson was rubbing his eyes and realized he wasn't the only one.

"I know you and Tim are friends but how about we get out of here. This isn't exactly my scene."

"Sounds good to me. My hotel isn't very far away. I wouldn't mind an escort there. This neighbourhood can be a little scary."

"You got it."

Tony waved at Abby and pointed at the exit. She gave a big okay sign and went back to dancing. He tossed a few bills on the table to cover his beer and put his hand on Daniel's back directing him to the door. It seemed like a good excuse to touch the man.

They walked in silence letting the cool air sooth their heads. The man next to Tony was scanning the horizon for any problems much like the former police detective was. There was definitely more to this man than he was presenting to the world, Tony was sure of it.

"Lots of work for with the Air Force for an archaeologist is there?"

"I do lots of other things as well. I have a knack for other languages and I use that to help stop misunderstandings shall we say."

"Is carrying a gun included?"

"Why would you say that?"

Tony reached for Daniel's hand and ran his fingers along the rough edges and then put Daniel's hand on his and let him feel the same roughness.

"I get paid to notice things."

"Oh right. I wish I could tell you but-"

"I know I work for the same boss as you do; Uncle Sam. I'll try not to ask any questions but I've got to admit you intrigue me, Dan. Did you come to DC just to see Tim, or was it a happy coincidence?"

"I don't know why I'm going to tell you this but no, running into Tim today at the Smithsonian was just a turn of good luck. The only bit I've had in a while."

"At least until you met me, that is."

Daniel laughed. "Are you always this sure of yourself?"

Tony looked at the ground. "No, I'm not but it's what the world expects and I don't want to disappoint anyone." He couldn't believe he was being so honest, maybe it was because Daniel was a total stranger, or maybe it was because he felt completely at ease for the first time in a long time.

"Except yourself?"

"I've gotten used to that over the years. Now, come on, we were talking about you." Tony led them over to a park bench near one of the many memorials that decorate this part of DC.

"I made a stupid mistake," Daniel said kicking a pebble across the way. He cringed when it hit a businessman walking by. "Sorry," he called to the angry man.

"We all do stupid things, believe me I've got a list longer than the Potomac. One of the dumber ones just came back to bite me on the ass."

"Please, don't tell me we're about to get into a pissing contest over who's done more stupid things in their lives?"

Tony laughed; he placed a hand on Daniel's and squeezed. "For now, we can call it a tie, okay?"

"Okay," Daniel agreed with a touch of his own. "I came to town because a friend, I guess you could say my best friend, or at least he was, got transferred from Colorado Springs to DC. The Pentagon, to be specific, last fall. This was the first time I'd seen him in a few months but we talked all the time on the phone. So, this visit I finally decided to tell him how I felt about him. I couldn't before because he was my commander and it was all just so damned complicated."

"It always is when you get involved with your boss."

"Voice of experience?"

"I'll tell you later. You're turn on the couch is still up."

"It doesn't matter. I told him how I felt last night at dinner and he wasn't to impressed. Reminded me he was straight, and that he had some really deep feelings for another teammate of mine, a female teammate. Walked out before dessert, telling me he would try to forget about my confession but he didn't think we could be friends again."

"Sounds like a real winner," Tony said, reaching for Daniel's hand again. He loved the warmth from it. It was slowly bringing back some feeling into his heart. "Must be something about the military mindset."

"Once again the voice of experience," Daniel said.

"You really sure you want my extremely boring story?"

Daniel turned so that he was looking at Tony. "Yes, now tell me."

Tony told Daniel about Jethro Gibbs his former Marine boss and lover. How he had secretly lusted after him for years.

"Well, maybe not so secretly. We had a bad case a little girl was kidnapped. She was blind and held for ransom along with her mother. The kidnapper was going to kill the mom but let the girl go as a good faith gesture. Anyways, it doesn't matter, what does matter was it was the father who was responsible for the whole thing. It really got to Gibbs and he appeared that night on my doorstep with a bottle of bourbon, condoms and lube. That was a year ago. I never really thought about what it meant. Maybe I should have. I always thought he be there but along comes this old flame; a female flame. She's the director of the whole NCIS and I get tossed out on my ass, told to take a few days off to get over my irrational hurt and be ready to work."

"I'm sorry, Tony. I took off a few days hoping that Jack and wouldn't get out of bed for a while and-"

"Here you are with a stranger pouring out your heart."

"No, Tony, that wasn't what I meant." Daniel looked horrified.

"Yes, it is, but that's okay. I don't think either of us had this planned. We should get going and get you back to your hotel." Tony stood up and brought Daniel with him.

"Can I treat you to a drink? I've got a well stocked mini-bar?"

"Anything but bourbon and you've got yourself a deal." Tony wasn't sure what he was walking into but after the day he had he didn't really care. All he knew was that if felt wonderful being with Daniel and that this Jack was an idiot.

Daniel couldn't believe he was inviting a stranger up to his hotel room. He had done some foolish things in his time. He had told the most recent screw up to the man riding in elevator with him but he didn't care. Tim had told him Tony was a good guy, if a little brash and childish at time. He sounded almost like another Jack O'Neill, even resembled him a little physically both were tall and lean but in spite of Tony's wisecracks he could see that there was something vulnerable about the man.

"Look, Tony, I don't do this very often, bring strange men home with me."

"Oh, you want me to go. Hey, that's cool. I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable with me."

"No, you see that's it. I don't. I just didn't want you thinking I make a habit out of this. The truth is I'm a bit of a workaholic and I don't do much dating in general."

"Guess that's where you and I differ. I've got a bit of a reputation as a skirt chaser but most of that's for show. I didn't want anyone to suspect my feelings for the boss or that I was being fucked by him later. Sorry, hope that wasn't too crude?"

"No, it wasn't. I study languages and that communicated exactly what I think you wanted to say."

"Guess so."

The elevator stopped and Daniel headed down to his room. He stopped when he realized Tony wasn't following him. "Pease, Tony, come with me.

Tony nodded and followed Daniel to room 2270.

'This is nice," Tony said walking into the large suite. He wandered over to the large picture window. "Great view too."

"What can I get you to drink? Are you hungry we can get something from room service?" Daniel asked hanging his coat up.

"Look if I'm overstepping my boundaries tell me, but after the day we both have had I don't think we want to be alone. I think that's why you invited me up and I'm pretty sure that's why I came here."

Daniel swallowed hard as Tony approached him, his green eyes flaring with passion. "I ah... I think you're right."

"Daniel, we're just two very lonely people and for right now, we can be what each other needs." Tony took a hold of Daniel's hips and pushed him back until he was against the hotel room's door. "One word and I'll stop."

Tony's lips came down on Daniel's hard, and hungry, their tongues pushing against each other trying to get dominance.

"Oh, God, don't you dare stop," Daniel moaned into Tony's mouth. He reached for Tony's pants, his hands fumbling for the zipper. He could feel Tony's hardness through the material but he wanted to feel it against his skin instead. He was quick to get both the pants and boxers out of the way.

"Hurry, Dan, hurry."

Tony returned the favour and undid Daniel's pants pushing them to the floor. "Beautiful," Tony sighed, taking a look at Daniel.

"You aren't so bad yourself," Daniel said, running his hand over Tony's lips before kissing him again.

They gasped and moaned; their precum lubricating their erections as they pushed against each other.

"Close, Tony. Oh, God, sorry, I can't wait." Daniel threw his head back giving Tony access to his throat to nibble and suck on. He was going to have a nasty mark there in the morning.

"Oh God, Daniel, so good. I'm coming." Tony moaned as he released his seed.

Daniel exploded, his knees went weak and he sank to the floor bring Tony down with him.

"Oh wow," Daniel said, when he could speak. He ran his hands over Tony's face and through his hair, smiling at the spikes he caused. "That was fantastic." Daniel kissed Tony' gently on his swollen lips.

"Hmmm," Tony sighed, nuzzling against Daniel's neck. "I don't think I can move."

"You're going to have to soon, or my legs are going to go numb since you're sitting on me."

"I was wondering what was so damn lumpy." With a groan, Tony rolled off, sitting next to Daniel. "Can I get a shower before I go?"

"You want to leave?" Daniel couldn't keep the disappointment out of his voice.

"You want me to stay?"

"Yes, that's if you want to. I was hoping we could have breakfast, and maybe try this again but horizontal. That's if you're up for it?"

Tony hopped to his feet, before pulling Daniel to his. "Shower first and then I can show you how up for it I am."

Daniel laughed and led Tony to the shower, where they had more fun discovering each other's body and hotspots. He had to admit the back of his thigh was not one he knew before tonight. They dried each other off before falling into bed.

"I want to but I don't think the flesh is as willing as the soul," Daniel said, snuggling next to Tony.

"Tomorrow, I promise," Tony said, almost asleep.

Daniel kissed his lover and agreed tomorrow looked pretty good.
