A Letter From Daniel 6

Summary: The Boys go home
The two men woke to the sound of Skarra's voice calling their names "Down here Skarra." Daniel called without thinking but by the time he did it was too late because the Abydonian was standing in the doorway looking at them expectantly.
"Father was worried, I see he had no need to be." the young man beamed at them "Uhh, hey Skarra, erm... we erm...." Jack didn't finish the sentence he was too busy trying to figure out what to say.
"Morning meal is almost ready, you had better hurry if you want to eat." Skarra said leaving them alone as quickly as he had arrived. "Erm...Jack" Daniel started to say but was cut of by Jack kissing him, "That's better." Jack said after he pulled back, "Can't think of a better way to start the day." he grinned.
Daniel looked like a goldfish for a minute "I...me either." he said rather lamely. "Come on Danny Boy, didn't Skarra say something about food, I need some after last night, not to mention I need to stock up for tonight." Jack grinned half evilly.
"Jaaaaack!" Daniel half groaned as he slapped Jack playfully on the cheek, right about the time he noticed the huge bruise there, "Oh shit Jack I'm so sorry I didn't..." Jacks hand covered his mouth, "No. It had to happen like that Daniel we had to get all the bad shit out of the way before we could get to this." he said and replaced his fingers with his mouth, "Now come on, breakfast." he said jumping up and searching for his clothes.
After Breakfast
"You will be returning to your home Good son?" Kasuf asked Daniel as he sat beside Jack in Kasuf's home, Skarra had told his father already of their new relationship, something that had surprise Jack, but apparently not Daniel.
"That is right Good Father, I will always honour your daughters memory but I believe Shau're would wish me happiness, and being with Jack brings me that happiness, I belong on earth with him at the SGC, I came here to hide but I now know that was foolish, my destiny is with him and with him I must be." Daniel said taking Jack's hand as he spoke.
Kasuf nodded thoughtfully, "My daughter would be proud of you Good son for seeing your true path and following it, as I am proud of you." Kasuf stood and walked over to Jack, "Take good care of him for you shall answer to all here if any harm comes to him by your hand." the old Abydonian warned. Jack nodded "I'll die before I hurt him again I swear it, too much hurt has come already, I won't allow it to come again." Jack promised squeezing Daniel's hand.
At the Stargate - later that day
"Good Journey my friends" Skarra offered as he hugged both Jack and Daniel, "Thanks." Both men said at the same time, laughing at it. "We'll visit again as soon as we get the chance, I promise." Daniel said to Kasuf and Skarra as he and Jack collected the few things Jack had and the few belongings Daniel had brought along to take back through with them.
"Ready?" Jack asked as the wormhole engaged and he sent through the IDC code, Daniel nodded and they stepped up towards the gate, "Let's go home." Jack said and they both stepped through the event horizon.
SGC-Seconds later
"Daniel!" Sam said as soon as the two men hit the ramp, "Nice to see you too Carter" Jack smirked, "Oh Sir, yes Sir, nice to have you back." she flustered. "Welcome home Colonel. Dr Jackson, good to have you home." General Hammond's voice said from the large door as he entered the gate room.
"Thank you Sir." Daniel said his face looking downwards, "It's a good job too, we need SG-1 back out there. Major Carter and Teal'c have been going crazy sitting around here for the past few weeks." Hammond said.
"SG-1 Sir, I thought you were going to put Clerk on SG-1?" Daniel asked confused, he hadn't thought he'd be able to go back to SG-1 just like that. "SG-1 is only as good as it is because of who's on the team, I'd never dream of putting anyone else in as SG-1's archaeologist except you." Hammond said.
Jack smiled at Daniel's shock but there was one thing that had to be taken care of first, "Sir permission to speak with you privately?" Jack asked, "Of course Colonel my office." Hammond answered and Jack followed motioning Daniel to do the same.
"Well Colonel what's the problem?" Hammond asked as he motioned Jack and Daniel to take the seats across from him. "Sir what I'm gonna say breaks the old don't ask don't tell policy but I'm not gonna lie to you and try to hide this, so I think its best you know now. Daniel and I are involved Sir. Romantically." Jack said noting Daniel's stunned expression, he probably should have warned him he was going to do this, but then Daniel would have tried to talk him out of it.
"I see Colonel, I can't say I'm surprised. Although I am surprised you told me." Hammond said his face not betraying anything. "I love Daniel Sir, and I'd like to think I've done enough for this country, this whole planet to be able to be with the person I love and be involved in the SGC, but if that's not possible then I need to know now, because when it comes down to it, I'll choose Daniel over the SGC anyday and twice on a Sunday." Jack said making it clear where his priorities lay.
Hammond actually looked shocked, "Very well Colonel. Look I have no problem with this, but please I ask that you just confine your activities to off base only, beyond that, I'm happy for the both of you." Hammond said and this time it was Jacks turn to be shocked. "Yes Sir." he said standing and waiting for the Generals nod of dismissal before leaving with Daniel close on his heels.
"Jack why did you do that, you could get into trouble, maybe not with Hammond but others higher up." Daniel asked him as they walked to the locker room to change before going to the infirmary. "Then I'll retire again, I won't lose you and I won't pretend I don't love you." he said as they reached their location. Daniel nodded appeased for now, but how long that would last was anybody's guess.
Later that night - Jacks house
"Well at least we have a great excuse for living together." Jack joked as they talked seriously for the first time about their relationship, although how Daniel expected him to talk seriously at gone 1am after several hours of extremely tiring and extremely wonderful love making was beyond him.
"Jack this is serious, I don't want you to have to retire." Daniel said, "I know, and I probably won't have to with Hammond on our side but even if I do I don't care, as long as I have you I don't need anything else, hell your the only reason I stuck with the SGC as long as I did." Jack admitted with a yawn. "Now sleep Daniel talking can wait till morning." Jack yawned out glad when Daniel dropped a kiss on to his hair and nodded against his head.
Jack and Daniel both feel into a peaceful sleep, Daniel's arms wrapped securely around Jack's waist as Jack's head rested over his heart, yes there were questions, but as long as they had each other that was all that mattered, the rest of the world could wait for few hours.
