Summary: Jack has issues with trust, and Daniel is a little confused
"All I'm saying, just for the record, this is the wackiest plan we've ever had." With that statement, Jack got up and started to walk out of the briefing room. He didn't spare Daniel a glance, not wanting to look at him yet. Jack had been avoiding Daniel as much as possible in the past week while he tried to get his feelings under control. Every glimpse of Daniel was like a stab to his heart, knowing that the younger man didn't remember what they had meant to each other. Because he was staying away though, there was a permanent ache in his heart, similar to the one he had carried for the past year. It was not going to go away quickly, and the only way it would was if he and Daniel became a couple again.
Carter fired a couple of questions at Jack before he left the room and he answered her briskly. Shut up, Major! he thought, not wanting to think about the upcoming mission at the moment. The whole mission hinged on whether Daniel would be able to pull of his part with only a small fraction of his memory, and that was the main part that Jack didn't like. He had to trust that Daniel would be able to do that, and he was having problems with that. Over the past week, his mistrust had been redirected towards Oma Desala - she was obviously the one behind Daniel's disappearance and subsequent descension. But there was still a part of him that said, "Daniel lied," and that part was hard to ignore. He didn't know what it would take for him to trust Daniel again but he hoped that he would have a chance to find out after they took out Anubis' superweapon.
If they all survived.

After the briefing, Daniel spent the evening in his room again. It was taking him a while to get through all the mission reports from his pre-ascension days. One thing he had noticed about the missions was that there seemed to be an awful lot where he and Jack had butted heads over a course of action. That implied that he and Jack had never really got along and went a long way to explaining Jack's distance now. But why had Jack tried so hard to convince him to come back to Earth, and to imply that they had been friends, if that were the case? Daniel couldn't figure it out.
He looked over at the picture of Sha're but only felt a muted sadness. Her death had been a long time ago, he knew that from the mission reports, and he presumed that was why he wasn't filled with grief. That, and he still couldn't remember her properly, just a jumble of images and some feelings. It also went some way in explaining why he felt more about being ignored by Jack - it was more recent, and they had apparently spent more time together than he had with his wife. Daniel wished he could remember her properly but understood the memories would hopefully come back in time.
If he survived the upcoming mission.
Turning back to the reports, Daniel vowed to talk with Jack soon so that he knew where he stood with the man. He needed to know whether Jack really hated him or not. Once he knew, he would be able to act accordingly, and he would be able to determine his place and his future at the SGC.
